A laconic clone trooper who preferred to let his Z-6 rotary blaster do the talking, Jek had a relatively uneventful posting in the Senate district at the start of the Clone Wars. Perhaps it was the sedate confines of Senate and diplomatic escort duty that led Jek to obsess with weapons as an outlet. He was an expert in all manner of small arms blaster weaponry, even going so far as requisitioning and obtaining heavy weapons even though they weren't part of his mission requirements.

Jek and his fellow trooper Rys were assigned to escort Jedi Master Yoda to a diplomatic mission to Rugosa, under the command of Lieutenant Thire. The troopers and Yoda crash-landed on the moon's surface after being shot down by Separatist frigates. They then had the get past an entire battalion of battle droids in order to secure a much needed treaty with King Katuunko of Toydaria.

During the mission, Yoda advised Jek that his most powerful weapon was his mind, and not the hardware that he lugged around. The lesson stuck with Jek, who along with his fellow clones was able to improvise a critical rescue when Yoda was outnumbered by approaching droidekas.
