A three-eyed Gran from Malastare, Senator Ask Aak was a member of the Loyalist Committee determined to keep the Republic from fragmenting under the strain of Separatist forces.

Aak was a strong proponent of a Republic military force. The political career of Aak's predecessor, Aks Moe, left much of the Gran Protectorate mired in scandal and with no shortage of enemies. Malastare was plagued with social strife stemming from the second-class treatment of its native Dug citizenry. Dug activists even disrupted what was to be a placid, respectful funeral for the fallen Moe.

Ask Aak is a more rotund Gran than his precessor, Aks Moe, seen in Episode I. Unlike the eloquent and clear-voiced Moe, Ask Aak speaks in a very muddy alien language that requires the use of subtitles on screen. In Episode II, Aak was played by Steven Boyle. In Episode III, Paul Spence played the role.
